Boquete is a small and beautiful “mountain town” located in the Chiriquí Province, Panama. The town sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by a high mountain range of rain forests that reaches to the border of Costa Rica. With an elevation of 3000 feet, the air is fresh and clear, and boasts of “Spring-like” weather all-year round. The Caldera River runs through the heart of the town. One of the newer tourist destinations of Panama, Boquete has abundant natural resources and is centrally located to offer you the best of Chiriquí province, including hiking (from day hiking to advanced level), and coastal trips for surf lessons, fishing, whale watching, and island excursions. Tour options include treks in the forests, waterfalls, hot springs, coffee tour, bird-watching, horseback riding or for those who are advanced, an ascent to the top of the Volcan Baru at 12,000 feet.
The District of Boquete has an approximate population of 24,000 inhabitants, distributed within its 10 “corregimientos”. There is an important Expat community estimated in 5,000 people, with expats from all over the world. There is a weekly meeting organized by this community, known as “the Tuesdays market” at the BCP grounds (Boquete Community Players). Here you will be able to buy arts and crafts, fresh products and to get to say hi to a good portion of this Boquetenians or “Boqueteños”, as we call the people that leave in Boquete.
BOQUETE is a place that it will undoubtedly surprise you. Natural beauty, pleasant cool temperatures, and fresh air. The town has some beautiful hotels and inns, spas, outdoor adventure tours, grocery stores, public transportation, and more. There is a large expat community from North America, Canada, and Europe that live in homes around town. Moreover, there are some lovely gated communities in Boquete that boast swimming pools, golf courses, and other wonderful amenities. The local community is friendly, and have an open mind about their international neighbors. Located only 30 minutes’ drive from the city of David, which has daily flights to/from Panama City and Bocas del Toro. You can also access it by land, using the road from Panama City to Boquete on the Inter-American Highway.
You can get to Boquete easily by air, car or bus. You can fly Air Panama from Albrook Airport to the nearby city of David, or Copa Airlines from the Tocumen International Airport to David as well. Air Panama offers 3 daily flights, and Copa offers the daily flights. Airfares are around $150 roundtrip (please check season prices). Copa allows you to connect with international flights coming from Canada and US.
Boca Chica is located, also on the pacific side of Panama. Just one hour and a half away from Boquete, this place is a small port town where fishing is the main activity and the major source of income for the locals.
From Boca Chica you can take a boat and go to a beautiful island where there’s white sand and safe areas to go snorkeling!
During the months of July through October, you can watch Humpback whales with their babies on the way to the amazing islands of Bolaños and Games. Also in this area you can stay in boutique hotels or budget hostels with great views and delicious fresh food from the ocean.

Las Lajas is located on the Pacific Ocean, only 2 hours drive from Boquete and 1 1/2 hours from David, Chiriqui.
