Tungara is where cool people hang out & stay… That is what the sign says and it is certainly true! If you are looking for a budget hostel with great atmosphere, in the center of Bocas town, close to shops, restaurants, bars and clubs, do not look any further! You have found the perfect spot.
Tungara has a young, chilled out international backpacker feel, and has knowledgeable and helpful staff that will do anything in their power to help you enjoy Bocas del Toro at its best. At Hostel Tungara you will be able to socialize with other travelers such as yourself, have fun, and yet still enjoy a good night sleep! They take silence after 11pm very seriously at Tungara, and their 24 hour reception service will make sure that everyone’s right to proper sleep is respected. In addition to great quality customer service day and night, you will also have sleep on brand new mattresses, have your private bathroom in each room, enjoy free breakfast (pancakes) and unlimited cups of biological coffee from Panama’s highlands.
It is worthwhile to know that Tungara Calipso is promoting recycling in Bocas del Toro, which is a rather new initiative in this developing area of Panama. At the hostel, you will be able to get free drinking water (which is filtered rain water), so that you can refill your used water bottles and not generate more plastic waste on the island. We thank you in advance for helping with the recycling efforts, and contribute to protecting our beautiful environment =)
Tungara Calipso has 6 dorm rooms and 4 private rooms, all of which are air conditioned and have their very own bathroom (most hostels in Bocas offer shared bathrooms). Dorm rooms can accommodate 4, 6, 8, 10 or 11 guests and the private rooms up to 5. A communal kitchen is available to guests at any time, if you would like to prepare yourself a meal. You can store your food in the fridge, and use the stove, microwave and kitchen utensils as you please. Free wifi internet access is available throughout the entire building.
Tungara Calipso is located on Bocas del Toro’s main street (3rd Street) diagonal to the Central Park and across from the Municipal Building.
